This has started happening in file explorer ever since i upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11.
Let’s say I have file explorer open to my documents folder, which has a lot of pictures. I scroll part of the way down, e.g. to where the pictures starting with “f” are. Sometime later, when I alt-tab back to file explorer, I will find that it has scrolled all the way back up to the top of the folder where the pictures starting with “a” are.
This is not caused by my mouse, keyboard or anything like that. Its like file explorer just resets to its default view which is at the top of the folder. I can 100% reproduce this if I lock Windows and log back in. When i check file explorer, it will have reset back to the top. No other program like notepad++, firefox or discord are affected, only file explorer as far as i can tell. I think this happens every time my monitor turns off due to inactivity as well (to conserve power).
Does anyone know why this has started happening and if there is a fix/workaround for this? It is driving me crazy.
Currently on Windows 11 23H2. I found some posts suggesting this is caused by file explorer trying to connect to one drive, but I already uninstalled one drive…unless you need to do something extra to stop file explorer from doing that.
