I have a number of programs that I need to use, but they frustratingly impede my using of computer by constantly trying to connect to the Internet. I have blocked their access to the Internet with a firewall, so they cannot connect to the Internet, but they nonetheless still keep trying and sometimes almost hang my computer up while doing so.
If I disable my Internet connection then those programs don’t try to connect and thus no impediments happen.
I also need my Internet connection to be enabled all the time.
How can I make only a set of programs think that my computer has no Internet connection?
Do they call like a certain function and that call could be intercepted somehow?
