Why does Windows 10 remote desktop touch right-click rectangle keeps displaying?

At one of our systems I have a strange phenomenon:

With a long touch Windows first shows the touch circle and then the right click rectangle, but after the finger is released the displayed rectangle does not go away.

The system setup is a bit special: from a panel PC (with a touch display) I have a Windows remote desktop connection to a second PC (with its own Touch display). Both have Win 10 LTSC 21H2 installed.

So when I do the right click directly at either PC, all is ok.

Only when the right click is performed at the 1st PC through Remote Desktop to the 2nd the error occurs. If I move the Remote Desktop window, the rectangle moves along -> so it really is generated from the remote PC.

  • Each right click creates a new rectangle.
  • Other clicks, window switches etc don’t make the rectangle(s) vanish.
  • When the remote connection is closed, the rectangle(s) finally disappears.
  • When I disable the Show visual feedback when I touch the screen option in the system settings the error is gone, but I would really like to keep the visual feedback on.

Does anyone know a fix for that?

(And yes, unfortunately we have to use the setup as it is with the two PCs and remote desktop.)
