Im trying to install Java on a fresh install of windows 10 to play minecraft. When i ran minecraft for the first time, it said it could not find java.dll and the “Java SE Runtime Environment”.
After installing the Java SE Development Kit 25.0.1 from this site: https://www.oracle.com/java/technologies/downloads/#jdk25-windows and pointing the minecraft installation to the javaw.exe file in the Java directory, it still crashes instantly, now with error code 1.
I can not find any crash dumps or logs in the appdata/roaming/.minecraft folder.
Afterwards, i downloaded the windows offline 64bit installer from this website: https://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp and tried running it on my pc. As far as i can tell, nothing happens, the installer window doesnt even appear and running it as admin does nothing.
Im not sure what to do now, as ive installed Java on win10 on my old pc just fine, and i had a Java folder with jre and jdk folders, with minecraft working just fine.
Ive tried adjusting the environmental variables like JAVA_HOME and the path, but nothing seems to change. My user name is “Pawel” after i changed it to not contain special characters, but it didnt help.
