I have a Windows 11 Pro PC on the network, that lost capability to search a network share. One of my users can’t search for files on the network share.
So here what I have done:
Rebuild Search Index
Rebuild the Windows 11 search index Indexing Options (via Settings >
Privacy & security > Searching Windows or Control Panel) > Advanced >
Rebuild under Troubleshooting
Network Discovery is on
Enable Remote Indexing
In the Registry (regedit.exe), create a DWORD AllowRemoteIndexing
(value 1) in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREPoliciesMicrosoftWindowsWindows Search
Enabled Content Indexing on the Share
Properties > Sharing tab > Advanced Sharing
Added to Indexing Options
Indexing Options in Control Panel > Modify
