Search and replace a particular character from a particular font with the same character from another font in a PDF

Say I’ve a PDF document with multiple fonts. I want to replace all instances of a particular character from a particular font with the same character but from another font. Is this possible to do? If yes, how?

I can do this manually using the Pro version of PDF-XChange Editor. By manually, I mean that I select the particular character with ‘Edit Text’, then change the font from the drop-down list manually from the ‘Properties’ pane. I want to know if an automated solution to do this is available. The document I am interested is fairly long (~700 pages), and the character(s) that I am interested in font-substitution are also numerous.
