I love TextPad, but one quirk of it spellchecks drives me up the wall: it trips on every instance of an html tag followed by a word because it treat the closing angle bracket (>) as a letter (so it triggerss on sequences like i>this or i>you). I just updated to the latest 8.23.5, but I doubt that’s relevant: it’s done that since I started using it almost 20 years ago. It’s just the first time I try to actually do something about it.
I’ve read advice that this can be corrected by editing the syntax file and adding the brackets to “OperatorChars”, but Textpad then refuses to save text.syn (“access denied” error). I thought that was because the file was in use by the program itself (because what else was I gonna use to edit the file but TextPad itself lol), but no: I can’t even open that file at all in other programs.
Am I just going about editing the syntax file wrong? Or is it just something that I can’t fix at all?
