Does a hidden SSID with no clients still create co-channel interference to the environment?

I’m trying to use a WiFi repeater as a “reverse AP” that connects to an existing WiFi network itself, and provides wired network for other devices.

I found most WiFi repeaters now no longer provide a “client(only)” mode, i.e. I can not turn off its own wireless network, and if I do, WDS also disconnects. If I use WDS to bridge into another WiFi network, I must let the repeater create another bridged WiFi network as well.

In this case, the best I can do is to hide the SSID of the bridged WiFi and not let anything connect to it. So this “empty” WiFi will not generate co-channel interference to the main WiFi?
