Lover.ly,
the popular wedding inspiration and shopping site, today announced Bob
Schwartz, accomplished digital commerce growth veteran, as the company’s
first Chairman. Schwartz joins Lover.ly following a successful tenure
creating and leading internet and e-commerce companies including
Magento, an open source commerce platform which sold to eBay in 2011 and
Nordstrom.com. As Chairman, Schwartz will work closely with founder and
CEO Kellee Khalil and the Lover.ly executive team to shape the company’s
long term strategic growth, business partnership development, capital
strategy and build out Lover.ly’s brand product pipelines.
“As a well-known leader in the worlds of technology and ecommerce, Bob
brings to Lover.ly strategic direction, critical counsel, and business
development opportunities at a time ripe for scale and growth,” said
Kellee Khalil, founder and CEO of Lover.ly. “His wealth of experience
will greatly benefit Lover.ly as it introduces new and innovative media
and commerce models in our quest to serve brides with beautiful wedding
ideas, people to hire, and things to buy.”
A serial company builder with 25+ years experience, Schwartz helps
companies deliver innovation and growth that scale the business,
company, brand and product. Most recently at Magento, in only two years,
Schwartz grew the team from 35 employees to 350 and the company to be
the leading eCommerce platform globally. Today, Magento is used by over
30% of all eCommerce sites including the world’s best brands, retailers
and venture backed companies.
“Key to our success at Magento was building an energetic brand and
flexible technology focused on enabling customer and partner success,”
said Bob Schwartz, Lover.ly’s new Chairman. “Similarly, Kellee and her
team have seen success building a product that enables brides – in the
moment when they are looking for inspiration and need guidance – to make
the best brand and vendor choices for their wedding. With its
data-centric technology platform and engaging brand, Lover.ly is tapping
into what I see as keys to success in the future of digital commerce and
media.”
Schwartz is currently Vice Chairman of ONEHOPE Inc., creators of the
social impact product platform, and sits on the board of Good360, a
non-profit led by Carly Fiorina that connects brands and products with
those in need. Prior to Magento, Schwartz scaled numerous other
eCommerce brand and technology companies including founding fashion
apparel leader Nordstrom Inc’s multi-billion dollar digital commerce
group Nordstrom.com.
Schwartz, a digital commerce thought-leader, speaker and mentor, has
been married to his “bride” Amy for 23 years and loves a good wedding.
