My father bought this Syncmaster 933 monitor around 2008. It’s likely an LED monitor.
Last I used it was around 2023, and it had no visible flaws in the screen (both when turned on or off). It was as good as new.
But then, nobody used it, and it was consistently under the shade but still it wasn’t in any cool or AC or ceiling fan environment. During Indian summer, indoor temperatures can go upto 35 °C.
Today, I thought about using it again, and I found this weird dark diagonal patches and bubbles on the screen (photo 1 and 2).
When I connected it to power, it still seemed to work (there was a moving dialogue about Check Signal Cable). I think it would still work if connected to PC but I didn’t risk it. However, those dark patches and bubbles were still visible when it was turned on. Especially the dark patches were more visible. It’s one big weird dark shape as you can see in photo 3.
So I feel like this may have been some internal damage rather than just a dirty screen. The bubbles seem like outside the screen (I could feel them with finger).
Since, nobody likely touched it in last few years, I’m interested in finding out what may have been the reasons for this.
I won’t rule out some stray animal may have done it. Like a cat. But I think that’s unlikely as I rarely see any stray enter in our home and that area.
Maybe some physical damage unknowingly, but less likely. I’m not 100% sure.
So I think only possibilities I can imagine are: Either it’s too old OR the summer heat may have done some damage. I would like to know your thoughts.
