The Publisher 2016 app keeps crashing when opening some of the .PUB files used at work. An issue for multiple workstations.
Publisher crashes almost instantly when the .PUB file is launched. Only some .PUB files are impacted.
This only occurs once Office 2016 is fully up to date with it’s Security Updates. A fresh install without the updates can open up these same .PUB files.

Troubleshooting:
- Uninstalled KB5002878 + hid this from Updates via PowerShell + reboot
- No improvement
- Launched Publisher in Safe Mode, Disable Hardware Graphics Acceleration, Change default printer
- No improvement
- Run DISM and SFC commands via terminal
- No improvement
- Installed Visual C++ Redistribuitbale packages
- Performed a CLEAN reinstall of Office 2016
- Cleared registry keys, lingering files, reboot, reinstall
- via MS-Settings > Updates > Advanced Update Settings > Disable “Receive updates for other Microsoft products”
- This is only a workaround – one of the Office 2016 KBs is breaking Publisher still
