Can I close sihost.exe if its using my external hard drive?

When I try to remove my external hard drive, using eject before, it warns me that the device is being used, and tells me to close all programs that might be using it before trying again.
I installed Process Explorer and now know that the only program using it is sihost.exe, so can I close it to eject my drive or… what do I do?
