In Windows 11 I’ve had trouble connecting to shared printers. For 2 years I have used these steps to resolve the Error 0x0000709:
- Open gpedit to enable Configure RPC connection settings
(Computer Configure > Administrative Templates > Printers > Configure
RPC connection settings.)select RPC over named pipes
- Go to regedit (Registry Editor)
Add below command at the location below
Right Click > New > Select DWORD (32-bit) Value and rename it as the
command shared belowHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREPoliciesMicrosoftWindows NTPrintersRPC
**make sure you have this all the command in the folder
“RpcUseNamedPipeProtocol”=dword:00000001
“RpcProtocols”=dword:00000007
“ForceKerberosForRpc”=dword:00000001
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetControlPrint
“RpcAuthnLevelPrivacyEnabled”=dword:00000000
- After add Restart the PC before doing anything else
But today this method does not work. I tried it on 2 different computers running Windows 11 25H2 with latest updates (1 is printer host PC, the other is client PC). It still shows error 0x0000709.
How do I fix this?
Edit
The printer is installed with an usb cable to the Host Pc.Is a simple workgroup environment , with local users…..The printer is a laser 4303 HP….but the above method has worked for many printer in the same scenario …..but with 25H2 latest update ( i think is this the problem !!!) doesn’t work , the 709 error appear again !!!!
