hard drive not visible on windows install

I have an old HP 4-1162sf laptop. When I try to install Windows 8.1, the SATA drive is not visible. I tried to install the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver, it is detected as “Intel Mobile Express Chipset SATA RAID”. When I select it, the PC crashes (BSOD). I’ve also tried to install Windows 10 but it crashes (BSOD) even before I get to the installation screen.

The BIOS is in F23 firmware. It’s extremely poor and there is no option to switch the hard disk in AHCI mode.

Ubuntu is able to launch itself and when I run the lshw command, it gives me the following information for the hard disk:

What can i do to install windows 8?
