How to reset MacBook Pro without losing data by partitioning

I want to reset my MacBook Pro with Apple M1 Pro running macOS Monterey 12.5 and for this process I don’t want to backup. Instead I want to create a volume or partition and keep my files (only personal files, not any application or settings) in this created partition or volume.

So, for this purpose:

  1. Should I create volume or partition? Can I keep my personal data in these created part even if resetting Macbook Pro? I do not want to use backup feature, just want to keep my files in a separate partition or part.

  2. When resetting MacBook (hard reset), which data is deleted and is any file in the created volume or partition deleted?
