I am unable to play the RTSP stream using ffmpeg

I have two computers with Ubuntu 20.04.5 LTS installed, and one virtual machine with Ubuntu 22.04.3 LTS. I have a docker container with mediamtx installed on one of the computers, let’s call it server. I send an RTSP stream from the second computer to the server and it works for me.

ffmpeg -re -stream_loop -1 -i test_video.mp4 -c copy -f rtsp -rtsp_transport tcp -r 25 rtsp://rtsp_server:8554/mystream

However, when I try to open a video stream in a virtual machine using ffplay I get an error:

I suspect the problem may be something to do with permissions, but I’m not sure.
Has anyone ever encountered a similar problem and would be able to help me?

Additional information:

  • The computers are connected via Ethernet and are located in one
network, while the VM is connected via VPN.
  • The ffprobe command running on the second computer works fine.
