I have a program, called <Company>.<Product>.CommonBackground.exe.
In order to check if it was running, I launched:
tasklist | findstr /I "background"
I saw nothing, so I ran:
C:>tasklist | findstr /I "common"
This gave the following results:
<Company>.Common.Prog1 4460 Services 0 66,016 K
<Company>.Common.Prog2 8656 Services 0 88,824 K
<Company>.Common.Prog3 7308 Services 0 221,772 K
<Company>.Common.Prog4 11932 Services 0 250,052 K
<Company>.Common.Prog5 4748 Services 0 145,244 K
<Company>.Common.Prog6 2540 Services 0 116,872 K
<Company>.<Product>.CommonBack 19248 Services 0 276,424 K
(Don’t count the amount of characters, it’s falsified during the obfuscation)
The fact that the entire name is not shown, is due to the shortened “image name”, as you can see here:
Image Name PID Session Name Session# Mem Usage
========================= ======== ================ =========== ============
Apparently, the “image name” is shortened after 26 characters.
I know that, by using tasklist /FO CSV, I can get the full name, but I prefer some configuration which makes sure that commandline commands always give full answers instead of shortened ones.
Does such a configuration/registry entry/… exist? (I’m working with Windows Server, version 24H2)
