Magento 2 how to filter data on admin grid using insertListing?

Hi all I’m doing a report where I need to filter data.

I have 2 uicomponents, 1 form and 1 listing/grid.

Basically I need the form to filter the listing, but I don’t know if I can accomplish this by using listingInsert.
Or do I need to add that on the collection?
