Multiple monitor issue – monitor not “detected” but display works

I have a couple of computers with this issue. They are all Lenovo P15s laptops.

Windows 11

I have an Onten USB-C hub with many ports including two HDMI ports.

If I plug in the hub to the pc, then plug power into the PD port on the hub, then plug in the two monitors, I can get everything to be recognized and I am able to use all three monitors (built in display and two external monitors).

If I reboot the computer, the main screen (laptop screen) works, and both external monitors are duplicates of each other. Windows device manager only shows one external monitor. Detecting displays does nothing. If I click the identify button, windows shows both external monitors as monitor 2. If I unplug everything from the hub, and unplug the hub from the pc then plug everything back in one by one, I can get everything set up and working fine – until the next reboot.

I’m not sure where to go with this but it’s extremely annoying. I have multiple duplicate hubs and computers, and they all seem to have the same problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
