LEWEB 2011 — X.commerce, eBay’s open commerce ecosystem,
announced today that
PayPal
Access, the trusted commerce identity system, is now freely
available to Magento Go merchants. PayPal Access, which was announced in
October at X.commerce Innovate 2011, continues to gain traction with
merchants of all sizes by making it safer and easier for customers to
shop across the Web without having to remember multiple passwords or
fill out multi-page forms.
As most small-to-medium sized merchants don’t have significant budget to
dedicate to software and infrastructure development, they often struggle
with shopping cart abandonment during the online registration and
checkout process.
With PayPal Access on their sites, merchants can dramatically increase
conversion rates by simplifying log in and account creation. In a few
clicks, consumers can sign up and sign in to participating websites with
just their PayPal usernames and passwords. Important user information,
such as shipping address, will be automatically updated. Although
customers can choose to use their financial details stored in their
PayPal accounts, PayPal keeps that information private and secure.
“Our goal is to make online shopping as seamless and secure as possible
for everyone involved,” said Damon Hougland, general manager of Identity
and Informatics for X.commerce. “By bringing PayPal Access to Magento
Go, we’re allowing retailers of all sizes to focus on creating amazing
shopping experiences. In the coming months, merchants and developers can
expect to see us deliver additional cutting-edge solutions.”
Magento
Go, which is part of X.commerce, is an online service that allows
entrepreneurs and small businesses to quickly build an online storefront
to sell products and services. PayPal Access will be pre-installed on
Magento Go stores as an extension, meaning merchants can begin using it
in just a few clicks directly from their Magento Go administration
console. The free PayPal Access extension supports all five languages
currently supported by Magento Go.
“Most small-to-medium merchants need powerful turnkey technology
solutions,” said Roy Rubin, CEO, Magento. “That’s one of the core value
propositions of Magento Go. We continue to focus on helping merchants
offer great shopping experiences to their customers, and providing a
free trusted commerce identity solution does just that.”
