On my Windows computer, a .ts file was deleted by a capture studio program in a manner such that it is unable to be found in a popular, free tool, Recuva. However, some older .ts files were detected, which I assume is because I deleted them in a normal manner (i.e. the capture studio did not delete them. but I did manually).
Another data recovery program, R-Undelete, shows a potential match under “Extra Found Files$$$Folder00000?”. It says that the likelihood for recovery is below average, due to the file signature being overwritten. It registers the size is 8.5G, which sounds right. However, the file size is too large for recovery with the free version.
I have an image of the hard disk (NTFS), and I would like to recover this with some free (monetarily speaking) software, whether it be on Windows or Linux. What are my options?
