recently i went on a cruise. normally i would connect my samsung-android phone to the ships wifi, turn on my phone mobile “hot-spot” and let multiple devices connect to my phone and use the ship wifi at no extra cost.
however, it appears that the cruise line came up with a way to prevent this, as my connected devices started giving message that i need to buy the “upgraded wifi” to allow for multiple devices, even though i was connecting to my samsung-android mobile hotspot.
so, i was thinking something like a WISP router recommended here. however, i am not sure the ship wifi counts as “wireless internet service provider” since its more like the wifi you might find in a hotel, starbucks, or library.
suggestions? (other than to quit trying to cheat the cruise industry out of the extra revenue)
note: i purchased the unlimited drink package and only had a glass of wine, so the cruise line came out way ahead on me…!
