I have a Lenovo IdeaPad 1 14ALC7 with a Ryzen 7 5700U and 16 GB RAM (8 GB soldered + 8 GB SO-DIMM).
A couple of days ago, my Linux system stopped booting. If I remove the extra RAM stick, it boots
fine. With both modules installed, it only boots if I add nomodeset to the kernel parameters.
At first, I thought the memory stick was faulty, but memtest86+ shows no errors even after 5 passes.
Then I suspected an iGPU/memory compatibility issue, but testing with another RAM stick (from a
similar Ryzen 7 laptop) gave the same result.
My old RAM stick is 8Gb 2400 DDR4 SO-DIMM (it was installed by the shop where I bought the laptop). I tested with a similar RAM module (8Gb 2400 DDR4 SO-DIMM) and with a RAM module from another laptop (8Gb 3200 DDR4 SO-DIMM).
Now I have no idea what could be wrong and how to check it.
