Figuring that Linux is the most robust platform for troubleshooting at home, I’m trying to sort out what’s wrong with two hard drives of mine.
I have a good, relatively new HDD dock that works for any other drive I’ve tried, so I do not think it’s a problem with connection nor power.
The first one was in a Drobo, before I moved it to a Synology DS1512+, and is part of an array so can be rebuilt.
This is /dev/sdc, and at least this one spins up and loads in GParted, though SMART returns some old_age and pre-failure responses, as its uptime is ~4 years
I ran some of the analysis tools I’ve used before, but I’m struggling to understand them

The second drive didn’t even come through on fdisk, but the dmesg was similarly repetitive. This drive was my backup backup… so, still not ideal, but not a catastrophe.
