Transitioning from php to node.js?

Hi guys. Please be kind.

I’ve been a php developer for a decade. Specifically the Apache xamp stack. I love php, really, I think it’s nice to use and appreciate the power of the language since the first day I wrote my first crud system.

I’m starting to do more front end work starting from the ux and design side.

I know I don’t ‘need node’ because of my php ability, but I was asking if it’s worth the investment to learn because I’m lagging in the js framework buzz and starting to feel like I’m getting left behind with the meta.

From someone who has gone from php to node, What’s the differences you enjoy or dislike? Should I get into it?
