I’m using virtualbox 6.1 on windows 11 host and debian 11 guest, with the default Gnome window manager. After fresh install of the guest, the default resolution is 800 x 600, and I was able to easily change to 1680 x 1050 with no problem. I also installed the guest additions (successfully because clipboard sharing works).
However, when I reboot the guest, next time I log in, resolution is back to 800 x 600. I think it has something to do with the login screen being 800 x 600 (when I set to 1680 x 1050, that presumably was only for the logged in user in the guest). I recall that in Linux OSes, the login screen doesn’t care about what settings chosen by users.
Any way to make the guest permanently 1680 x 1050? I guess I could manually resize the window or something, though not sure if that would work.
