What are some good books to advance PHP knowledge?

I’m have a intermediate knowledge of PHP.

I feel like in the past 2 years I haven’t made any progress in my knowledge. I really want to progress, but it seems I always hit the same wall. Whenever I want to learn something new I either hit a brick wall of concepts that as far as I’m concerned are too advanced for me and I can’t find a single valuable resource on how they work. Or they’re way to dumbed down and I don’t learn anything new.

Considering the vast amount of books out there it’s incredibly hard to choose a proper up to date book.

So long story short, I want some books that are up to date, explain advanced concepts throughly and have some sort of examples too. Reading is nice but without actually writing the code too it feels like a waste.

Also, any book on basic CS knowledge that’s focused specifically on PHP is super welcome. As we all know PHP has a loooot of language specific quirks, which are surprisingly hard to pin point accurately.
