With new Dell ECS1250, mouse will wake system regardless of sleep length, keyboard waking fails after some undetermined length of time. BIOS does seem to have any relevant setting for keyboard wake. All HID devices that allow “wake the computer” are checked. Multiple searches for Dell or Microsoft settings have yielded any answer.
What does happen: with sleep time less than an hour, the Num Lock light goes on when a key or mouse button is pressed. After several hours, pressing a key does not turn on the Num Lock light, but clicking a mouse button turns on the Num Lock light within 5 seconds. So I’ve used 10 seconds as allowable wait for a keyboard click to wake the computer – that never happens.
Any ideas on either on why these behaviors occur or even how to get the keyboard to reliably wake up a sleeping computer?
