Why does my external mouse keep disconnecting when I play games on my laptop while it’s charging (plugged in)?

I’m using an MSI Bravo 15 B5DD. When I launch a game, my mouse starts disconnecting and reconnecting repeatedly, and then disconnects completely. The RGB lights are still faintly (flickering) on, like it’s lacking power.

I’ve tried all three USB ports and got the same result. It doesn’t seem to be a USB issue because my external keyboard works without any problems. The mouse goes back to normal as soon as I exit the game while still charging, or if I stay in the game and unplug the charger.
