Why does my user folder on Windows 11 contains an “.ms-ad folder?”

On Windows 11, under C:Usersmy_user_name, I have an empty folder called .ms-ad.

When I looked for its origin, I discovered that some people claim that it’s a folder related to Microsoft Active Directory.

Since I don’t use Active Directory and this may be related to cybersecurity, I was wondering if it was created automatically by Windows.

I’ve found many discussions indicating that it was created by Adobe Acrobat Reader 2022. Here I’m a little bit lost since I don’t understand how Adobe Acrobat Reader (2025.001.20435) can be related to Active Directory.

Could you help me understand?
