I run my system as a dual-boot with Windows 11 Pro and Ubuntu. So when I boot up I first see a bootloader asking me to choose which operating system I want. The hard drive is partitioned and Windows can’t access/doesn’t know about the Linux partition. This was setup starting with a Windows 11 only computer and then installing a standard ubuntu with dual boot setup.
After a recent automatic Windows update I don’t see the bootloader anymore and the computer automatically boots up into windows.
It is my understanding that the bootloader is on the Linux partition so Windows shouldn’t be able to access it or change it so I suspect the bootloader is still there and working fine but Windows doesn’t actually reboot but instead only goes into sleep mode. If Windows is in sleep mode it will start up directly into Windows without going through the bootloader. However, if I check Windows options under system/power and battery it is configured to restart and not to sleep mode so I’m at a loss.
So how do I get my computer to go through the bootloader on startup?
