Windows Intelligent Automarker

Rule 1: “Intelligent” isn’t. Never been more true than with the Windows Intelligent Automarker. (I only hypothesize it’s tied to the Windows OS, since it “works” in any text-editor based app I know of. It stayed in all versions I remember.) I mark something by mouseovering, the Automarker marks something else without being asked for. I delete and save…oops, didn’t pay attention to this spawn of the devil again. This “feature” has cost me more years of my life than any other computer programs added.

Question: Anyone who can tell me how to turn off this §§$%& is my hero.
