I’m looking for help fixing my laptop running windows 10. Windows loads normally, but when I log into my user account, a black screen appears and nothing appears to load.
I tried booting into safe mode and the same thing happened so I just let it sit there and after a couple hours the desktop icons finally showed up but the task bar was still loading.
I then booted into safe mode with cmd and ran sfc /scannow and it found and fixed a few errors but the problem still exists.
I also tried to uninstall the latest Windows updates but uninstall failed.
I thought of trying to create a new user account and see if it will load properly. I am thinking it may be a user account problem instead of a Windows problem because the login screen appears in about the normal amount of time.
My next thought is to attempt to repair windows through the recovery console but thought I would go ahead and ask here if anyone has any suggestions to try to fix it. Resetting or reinstalling windows would be the absolute worst possible situation since I no longer have the installation and license media for a few critical programs. Mostly worried about the programs because all of my user data is backed up to a separate drive in the computer.
