Zendesk, a cloud-based customer service software provider, has announced a new partnership today with Magento, an eCommerce platform owned by eBay.
The agreement, announced today at MagentoLive UK 2012, means that clients can now use Zendesk’s customer service channels together with any Magento-powered website.
A configurator will allow customers to setup and start running an eCommerce website with customer service capabilities “in a matter of seconds,” according to Zendesk. The partnership also means that Zendesk customer service employees can now instantly access any consumer data from the Magento eCommerce platform.
The system works in the other direction too, so that anyone working in either the sales or customer service department can stay with the platform they’re accustomed to. The new partnership should therefore provide a more seamless and collaborative set of services for any company that has chosen to use them together.
Conan Reidy, Zendesk’s Vice President of Business Development, said:
“Our investment in this integration is a direct result of feedback from our many retail customers. Innovative eCommerce companies are recognising that customer satisfaction is based on the complete customer experience, from sales to support and back again. This integration helps ensure that they work together seamlessly to maintain healthy relationships that drive future sales.”
Zendesk also revealed as part of the announcement today that Magento is now a ‘Gold-Level Industry Partner’ as a result of the new agreement.
Zendesk, founded in 2007 in Denmark, hit 5,000 customers in Europe alone earlier this year. Together the company now has more than 20,000 customers, including Adobe, Sony, Yammer, Disney and Groupon.
In September the firm also raised $60 million in new funding in a round led by Redpoint Ventures, with additional participation from Index Ventures, GGV Capital, Goldman Sachs, Silicon Valley Bank and prior backers, such as Charles River Ventures, Benchmark Capital and Matrix Partners.
Magento, on the other hand, released Magento Go in the UK back in July, a Software as a Service (SaaS) version of the firm’s popular eCommerce paltform. The company itself was acquired by eBay in August 2011 and is now a division of X.commerce, Inc.
