I’m searching for a free and open source solution for remote support to Linux desktop workstations that can can be tunneled through ssh.
I need to be able to connect to an already logged in and running session, by the local (physical) user, and control the session remotely.
I’ve been searching quite a bit for this and get stumped whenever I discover the solutions described either
- “gives you your own Linux desktop login on your server” (or similar), or
- “if a user is locally logged in, you’re not able to share that X-session”
The first remote Linux desktop that I’m looking to connect to is running Pop!_OS (Gnome) that I will connect to from Arch (i3wm). I’m looking for a free and open source solution to this (TeamViewer isn’t an alternative for me). A bonus would be that I’m able to set this up remotely through ssh.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
