How to disable adaptive spam controls in Thunderbird by default for new accounts?

When I add a new IMAP email account in Thunderbird, the option “Enable adaptive spam controls for this account” is enabled by default under “Spam Settings.”

Sure, you can disable this option after adding an IMAP account, but why is this still a problem? Thunderbird has this option enabled by default and immediately starts downloading emails from the inbox via IMAP. In the process, quite a few old emails in the inbox are incorrectly marked as spam, since the spam filter apparently reapplies itself to all emails already in the inbox, rather than just to newly arriving emails. With IMAP mailboxes, the mail server generally handles spam classification (as is the case for me), and Thunderbird shouldn’t interfere here.

I understand that this option makes sense for POP3 accounts, but generally not for IMAP accounts, since the mail server has usually already moved spam emails to the spam folder—and Thunderbird doesn’t need to classify emails that are several months old as spam.

How can I configure Thunderbird so that the “Enable adaptive spam controls for this account” option is disabled by default for newly added accounts?
