After 7 years of having the same IP address I’ve decided I want to change it due to it being banned in 30 or more places on the internet.
So I’ve tried to:
- Reboot my router many times. Same IP as before is there.
- Leave the router off for a 1-2 hours. Same IP as before is there.
- Change the MAC address. A new IP shows up in DD-WRT but I cannot load any webpage. Going back to the old MAC restores the old IP + internet connectivity.
I called up Trakia Cable to ask them if they have a dynamic, and apparently, I should have a dynamic. I also asked them if they do MAC locks, and they said no.
- Router: TL-WR841N V12 using DD-WRT latest build for the device.
- ISP: Trakia Cable
- I own the router.
My neighbour who uses Trakia Cable as ISP has also had the same IP for the last 6 years, but I am not sure which brand that is.
So how to just get a new IP that is clean with no bans and blacklists?
