I’m using a Windows 10 laptop that has its Intel Management Engine disabled, making the TPM unavailable. I need to disable Virtualization-Based Security to play an online competitive game, but I don’t want to lose access to WSL2, which I believe depends on Hyper-V. Can I use WSL2 with VBS disabled? I have done some research, but none of the solutions I came across are optimal. I came across the Device Guard and Credential Guard hardware readiness tool, but it only disables VBS until I reboot my computer. I’ve done some research, but none of the solutions I’ve found are optimal.
I tried all the solutions in this thread, but none have worked:
-
Attempting to disable VBS/HVCI in the registry was unsuccessful.
-
Disabling the “Windows Hypervisor Platform” feature and setting the DISABLE-VBS boot variable failed to disable VBS while keeping WSL2 enabled.
-
Running the DG_Readiness tool script only disabled VBS temporarily for the subsequent boot.
