I do virtual speech therapy on my computer usually using Zoom. I’m on a PC Windows computer. Sometimes I use headphones sometimes I do not. Voice clarity is better with headphones and headsets when both myself and my client wear them but it does not remove the problem.
My clients are usually using PCs as well, but may be using Macs or tablets at times.
When doing articulation therapy, sometimes the microphone on my client’s computer or their headset will block out a speech sound because it acts as though it is white noise. So when I am working on /s/ sounds specifically, think of like a child with a lisp trying to correct that sound, the client’s computer will suppress the sound of the client making the /s/ sound.
My question is how do I instruct them to shut off noise, cancellation or noise suppression or whatever it is in their computer’s native microphone or their headset that is blocking or removing background noise or white noise as well as this speech or sound?
