Recently I installed Thunderbird on an HP Pavilion dv6 notebook, running Linux Mint 22.1 Cinnamon. I was interested to see that Thunderbird hoovered up over three hundred messages, finding messages that were deleted as long ago as 2012.
Unfortunately the computer crashed soon afterwards (not a surprise—it was always prone to overheating).
After setting up a new computer with the same operating system, I installed Thunderbird again, and was surprised to see that it offered me only the half-dozen messages currently in my inbox.
Out of curiosity, I dusted off a spare—also running Linux Mint—installed Thunderbird, and again saw only the current messages.
I believe I installed Thunderbird in the same way each time. Is there something I missed, that would explain these different results?
Or was the first installation of Thunderbird benefiting from some Gmail setting that allowed a ‘one-time-only’ download?
Thanks!
