Magento Rallies Merchants, Partners, and Developers at Third Imagine …

LAS VEGAS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Magento, the leading eCommerce platform, today at the Imagine eCommerce
2013 conference highlighted the tremendous momentum across the Magento
ecosystem of merchants, designers, developers, partners and system
integrators. According to a recent study, Magento powers 26 percent of
all eCommerce sites in the Alexa top one million sites, more than any
other eCommerce platform.*

Since Magento joined the eBay family in August of 2011, the platform has
grown to attract over 150,000 merchants who build and run their online
stores on the Enterprise version of the software. Magento’s open source
Community Edition, has also seen tremendous success across merchants
large and small with over 5,400,000 downloads to date.

Magento was built to be the eCommerce platform of choice by fostering
merchant innovation through vital partnerships with developers and
design agencies,” said Roy Rubin, co-founder and chief operating officer
at Magento. “We’re thrilled with the continued growth of the community
and look forward to driving the evolution of the commerce industry by
leveraging company assets for our merchant community.”

Support from developer and design communities has been key to Magento’s
success and market penetration. The Magento Connect extension
marketplace now offers 6,000 community-built extensions that businesses
can use to customize their Magento store experience and optimize
back-end management operations. Additionally, 260 solution partner firms
worldwide are now qualified by Magento to build innovative storefronts
for businesses large and growing, pushing the boundaries of commerce
innovation. Magento also introduced a new Front End Developer
Certification geared at creating a new standard for theme creation and
customization in the design community, in addition to their current
back-end developer certification. Magento will host developer
certification testing at the Imagine eCommerce 2013 conference expanding
a robust community of more than 1,400 certified developers.

Magento remains central to delivering on the vision of helping
merchants find the best technology, the best system integrators and
bringing them together in a way that lets them achieve their business
goals while building competitive advantage,” said Matthew Mengerink,
chief technology officer of Magento. “Imagine eCommerce 2013 is a
testament to our vision that success in the ever-shifting commerce
landscape will be driven not by single monolithic solutions but through
a modular partnership approach that ensures the greatest choice, speed,
flexibility and value for merchants to keep pace with digital
disruption. With Magento, consumers experience beautiful brand
experiences and merchants are empowered to integrate disruptive new
technologies truly illustrating the art created by our commerce
ecosystem.”

In addition to keynotes provided by Matthew Mengerink and Roy Rubin,
Imagine eCommerce 2013 will feature presentations by eBay Inc. President
and CEO John Donahoe as well as PayPal CTO James Barrese highlighting
the opportunities presented by the breadth of the collaborations across
the Magento platform. Magento also highlighted strong adoption of the
commerce platform by leading fashion brands by hosting a runway
presentation representing designers including Nanette Lepore, Rebecca
Minkoff, and Erin Fetherston during the first day of keynotes.

I think the great thing about Magento Enterprise is that it’s one of
the most widely used and ubiquitous platforms,” said Uri Minkoff,
founder and chief executive officer at Rebecca Minkoff. “So instead of
going out and spending a fortune on the custom upgrade to something, you
often times find that the platform itself has evolved or that there are
third party products available that you can access at an economical
nature to upgrade.”
