pinging analytics.google.com returns 127.0.0.1 – has my network been tempered?

When I ping analytics.google.com that’s what I see:

PING analytics.google.com (127.0.0.1) 56(84) bytes of data.

I noticed that because when I try to access the website in Firefox, it returns Unable to connect.

Has my network been tempered? How do I find out why this is happening? And more important: how do I fix it?
