Toner cartridge(s) with damaged photosensitive drum(s): which solutions?

I have eight monochrome laser printers, each with a genuine cartridge for 25K pages.

Long storage without use caused the toner to localy damage the surface of the photovoltaic drum.

The prints are imperfect, with toner depositing in horizontal lines each time the photoconductor drum rotates. There are also lines where the ink does not deposit or fix properly.
On some machines, the print quality remains acceptable for printing music scores, but I would however appreciate if it was possible to improve it.


Attempted so far:

I very gently cleaned the photoconductor drum with a dry wipe (“Kleenex” like) to remove the excess toner.
But that didn’t help and possibly made things even worse. There is now toner that makes the sheet gray on both sides, especially its back side. Each new print is grayer than the previous one.


Looking for solutions

The drum and cartridge are assembled into a single unit (39V2513 for Infoprint 1832/1852).

The cartiges are filled between 20% and 80%, 50% on average.
Each cartridge costing around 400$, the loss if throwing the cartidges away can be estimated to 1600$ (8 x 400$ x 50%).

Is it possible to repair or have such cartridges repaired? Or to obtain empty cartridges into which the toner can be transferred?

If not, are there any techniques to improve the situation?
