Windows PC upgrade and downside suggestion needed [closed]

My current build from early 2018:

  • CPU: intel i7-8700k
  • motherboard: Gigabyte Z390
  • case: NZXT mid tower
  • GPU: NVIDIA GTX 1080Ti
  • AIO: NZXT Kraken Z53
  • 32GB RAM
  • 250GB SSD for boot drive
  • 2TB hard drive for everything else

I’m thinking of re-building an ITX with a smaller case and I’m thinking about Cooler Master NR200P right now but nothing firmed yet. The most important component here is the motherboard change. My main question here is, 1) should I upgrade the CPU so that it is compatible with the latest Z590-i motherboard, or 2) can I just get an old (maybe new) Z390-i so that I don’t need to change my CPU and save some money?

For Z390-i I can get one for like $250CAD. A Z590-i is like $400CAD after tax + I also need a new CPU which are likely another $400-500CAD.

Other changes:

  • PSU to FSP to fit in case.
  • change the 2TB hard drive to a 1TB SATA SSD as I don’t really need that much storage really. I have external hard drive for some longer terms storage.

Main usages of the PC:

  • some coding + running machine learning models (no super heavy job though, just for fun or testing)
  • very casual gaming that don’t have much harsh requirements on CPU/GPU.
