I have a Windows 11 Desktop PC with B550M chipset board that has a number of USB 3.0 ports on back panel.
I have connected two USB 3.0 extension cables (around 3 feet in length, one from Fedus and another Amazon Basics) to two of the USB 3.0 ports on back panel so that I can manage the connections easily.
All my Sandisk USB flash drives connect to both the cables as proper USB 3.0 speeds.
There’s no specific technical information available about the cables, all it says is USB 3.0 5Gbps superspeed cable.
I also have another USB 3.0 flash drive from HP.
Now on Amazon Basics cable it connects as USB 3.0 but on Fedus cable it connects as USB 2.0. Same device however connects as USB 3.0 when inserted directly into the actual port on back panel.
What exactly is going wrong with HP flash drive drive and/or the Fedus cable?
If I assume cable is bad in anyway, then all USB flash drives should negotiate to USB 2.0 but only this HP flash drive does that.
Moreover even my 2.5″ HDD enclosure perfectly connects as USB 3.0 on that Fedus cable.
