Did my smartwatch compromise my computer?

This happened yesterday and I haven’t been able to figure this one out. I try to keep it brief.

Yesterday I started the game Elder Scrolls Online on my Desktop PC and noticed some noise to my left. On my left side were my phone (laying on the charger) and my wired headset. I figured the noise was obviously coming from my headset when to my surprise the sound louder quicker than I thought and started to crack and stutter when I lifted up my arm next to my head to put the headset on. When I put it on, no sound game out of it, even though I could hear something.

This was when I realized the sound was coming from my watch which was on my left wrist! To my horror, because I had never previously used my watch to play any sound. I took my watch off and could now clearly hear the sound coming from the back of the watch. I did some actions in game and the sound from my watch matched the actions.

Here is where it gets spooky. I closed the game and my watch kept playing the game soundtrack. When I tapped the music player icon there was a pause icon shown, indicating it was playing sound, but tapping it did not stop it. There was nothing I could do to make it stop. I even tried slamming it on my desk to no avail. In addition I checked the sound settings on my PC which clearly told me the output was my headset, as it should be. The music only stopped playing when I rebooted my watch.

Here is some info on why I think the watch hacked my PC:

  • I never turn on the Bluetooth on my PC
  • I only connect to my watch through my phone, which had Bluetooth turned off. I have NEVER connected my PC to my watch through Bluetooth, ever!
  • I charge my watch through the USB cable that is connected to my PC. The end that connects to my watch consist of two little pegs kept on the charging area by magnets. Like this.
  • I ruled out interference because my PC stopped playing audio while the watch continued.

Even if I assume my PC has been compromised, I don’t really understand how the two devices could be connected. As far as I’m aware, the watch has no Wifi (specs says ‘No support’) and the Bluetooth on my PC was off.

My PC is running Windows 11 with the latest patches.
My watch is an HK85 (AMOLED HD LargeScreen, produced by Shenzhen Shengye Technology Co.,Ltd.) with most permissions turned off in the app, like notifications, incoming calls, etc.. I basically set it up to only send data to my phone and not the other way around.

The big question: How was my watch able to play this sound? Is my PC hacked? Should I destroy the device and reinstall my PC?
