I am trying to fix my server. Windows Server 2019 ESS running on a Supermicro X8ST3-F motherboard with LSI RAID 6 and 1.
OS looks like it crashed badly and I can only boot to BIOS or into MegaRAID window and when I click the start it the screen freezes and does not allow any other interaction.
I turned off the alarm while I was attempting to finalize and repair RAID. Windows Server is installed on SSDs and will not boot without LSI card installed too. One drive failed in RAID but I replaced it, and halfway the repair process it stopped.
I tried booting from a jump drive and new ISO with Windows Server. Could the keyboard be an issue? I only have a wireless All-In-One keyboard.
Why does the LSI have to be in place in order for me to install Windows?
I know this is a mess. I am all self taught and it’s not well written.
Update 1: OS will boot without the RAID card and everything works fine. No drives are seen, but I understand why. But, now with the card installed Windows will not boot and cycles off.
If I remove the backplane wires from drives with the card in, the server starts good, but no drives. After reconnecting the wires to the drives they all show unconfigured.
I cant turn it off the alarm. It is from the LSI, not the motherboard, and I can’t get into the MegaRAID software because of the mouse/keyboard issue. If I can get to the right window in MegaRAID I should be able to repair drive.
